This is a piece that I have owned and moved around since the late 70's. For the 1st few years I just called it a "miniature" church pew. I was informed that the correct term was a "Deacons Seat". All I know is for the size of it, it sure is heavy. My boys have just become teenagers of late but when they were little this piece was known as the "bad chair". This is where they had to sit when they were in "time out". Used in this way it worked well. My boys are now pretty good "little men" and they make good grades and so far the drugs and other bad stuff has not entered their realm. At 13 & 15 all it is now is surfing & girls. And not in that order. Has this good behavior of late happened because of the "bad chair"? Not sure but it sure beat "beating" them.

You have quite a collection, very nice!
nice piece and story your all close it is really called a deacons bench they do have deacon chairs to
Thank you Dottie & Vanskyock24. Thank you for taking the time to look at some of the end results of one of my strongest addictions. When one spends a couple dozen years picking up stuff, and in some cases the items go back way further, it's nice when you hear they are nice from others. Again, thanks for taking a peek & for taking the time to comment.
I love your story, and more power to you and your boys!! I use to have one of the benches, and they were highly collectible about 15 years ago. I imagine they still are.
Thank you cis2you for taking the time to look and for your comment. I'm actually looking for another one but don't want something long enough for 8-10-12 people. Just one that would accommodate 2-4. Maybe I'll get lucky. Thanks again.
