This table belonged to my aunt. It is stamped Roper Corporation, Williamsburg, Kentucky, underneath the top, but I cannot find any information on the company. I located many references to Roper Furniture in IN, as well as Roper Appliances. I love the retro look regardless of its age, but am curious as to whether it is from the 60's or a reproduction. She bought it second hand only about 8 years ago. Has anyone heard of this company?

Thank you, Riply206! How did you find all that?!? I found enough references to Roper furniture to feel confident that it was/had been part of Roper appliances, but never tracked down the history!

No problem. I appreciate the info on the table. I knew Roper was still making appliances. My mom-in-law has new-ish refrigerator from Roper, purchased through Sears! I also found a few references to both Roper furniture and appliances from long ago in Kentucky, but never found a site to tie them together. As for the table, I guessed it had to be an older set, as opposed to made recently in a retro-style.

Hope your still using this email address, I worked for the Roper Corporation in the 70's. The table and chairs were made during the 60's in Williamsburg. The plant was part of a larger company based in Kankakee, IL and Bradley IL. The kitchen furniture was made in Bradley, Ill prior to being moved to KY plant. I believe all of the furniture was made for Sears. I started at Roper in the engineering department in Bradley, IL under the supervision of the engineer/designed who had developed the line of furniture for Sears during the 50's and 60's. The Roper corporation had numerous plants in North America, primarily producing lawn and garden power equipment and kitchen ranges. In addition Roper made luggage, backpacks, cycle helmets and the list goes on. Employing over 5,000. The table and chairs you have is a real classic, I can remember proto type samples like this in the engineering storage room.
Hope you are still enjoying them.

Hello i was in a house fire and some amazing people donated this table and chairs to me. I have been looking for the company to see exactly how do you get the back off the chairs so i can reupholster it. I would really appreciate the help

Wish I could help you, it's been too many year since I'd seen the chairs. My guess is if there are no exposed screws, the back is mounted with a slip fit dove tail lock to the back, which would require sliding the back up on the metal support.

      Hope this helps.
