Can anyone tell me anything about this old chair? It is an old chair, the last one of a set of six chairs from my mother's kitchen long, long ago. It has leafy patterns on the backrest.

Hi! You may have a look under, to see if there is a mark or a label inside the seat rim.

I looked. In a circle is the letter T, then the word Thonet and again a T in a circle. Does that mean anything to you?

      Of course!

      Google for Thonet chairs...
Seems you have a good score! Is only one left?

Thank you. Unfortunately this is the only one left. I want to clean it, but don't want to hurt his originality. I live in SA. What do you recommend I use just to remove the dirt of years on it? Any idea what this chair is worth?

Rika, in antiques the less you touch it the best it is... Personnaly I would use what we call in France "fée du logis" spray on a soft cloth, avoiding the label!
On CW, no valuations... You'll have to search for similar completed sales :-)
The fact there is only one probably lowers the value :-(

Thanks for the trouble of answering all my questions. The value does not really matter to me, because it's sentimental value will be much more. I was lucky to get this one before it was destroyd, because to those people who had it, it meant nothing although they knew who's chair it was. I will go to a furniture place here to find the real thing to clean it without damage it. Thanks again.
