New York City used to have a great flea market on 6th Ave. and 26th St. One Sunday on 1978, I saw this beautiful twisted vase that reminded me of the skirt of a young woman in a poster I had just bought. It was dirt cheap and I got it. that December, while window shopping in the Village, I saw the second vase. My roommate wanted it, but did not buy it outright. i went back to the store on my own, and bingo, I got it. A week later, while going through a Sotheby's catalog, my sister saw it. We were stunned: a Loetz with a hefty estimate! From then on, everything that was iridescent had to be Loetz. Meanwhile, I had started to dream of a large green iridescent pitcher. But a shop in my neighborhood had a tomato red iridescent vase that freaked me out. I bought it. Months later, i was taking a friend home. We passed by a store with darkened windows. but there, shimmering in the darkness, was the pitcher I had been dreaming about!
It turned out my pieces were not all Loetz, only the frosted green and the green pitcher. The other two were Kralik and Rindskopf respectively. I was already addicted, and Czech glass was still relatively inexpensive. I still have those very first four pieces!

Great story.... and the pieces are gorgeous!
The Loetz pieces are 13". The Kralik, 10". The Rindskopf, 9". People have made offers, but I tell them they will go into my Egyptian pyramid with me!
Very nice story! One piece, then two, then.............. we collectors know how the story never has an ending. Thanks for sharing!
Hey, no fair!! You can't take these beautiful pieces with you when you go.... you gotta will them to me! LOL
I wish the pieces of Bohemian Glaaa I dream about would turn up ...at a great price ...
Marty, look at Australian E-Bay. There is a bowl there I'd kill for!
i too loved that 26th st market...i used to drive for 7 hours to attend it...got there at 4 am and picked till noon...the most incredible items used to pop out of vans...is that market still going on?
Unfortunately, it is all high-rises now. There is a two-story garage and an open space. I have not bought anything there in years. I do my shopping on Internet.
Like the pieces, loved the story.
