I found this hanging oil lamp at a yard sale. It is missing the oil/wick holder. It has a pully system so it can be raised and lowered. The shade may be satin glass. It has 2 teirs of crystals. I love it but can not find out who made it and how I find the missing piece, otherwise it is in great shape-I think? If anyone could give me any info, I looked for the makers mark, but all the metal is very ornate and maybe it is hiding? If anyone could tell me most likely place to find the mark?
    Thanks

The part that attaches to the ceiling sometimes had marks or numbers that can help in Identifying these Library Lamps, but it's not always the case. Companies like Bradley & Hubbard, Rochester Library Lamps co., Edward Miller & Co made the metal parts but other Glass making companies made the fonts (missing on this one) and the shades. Companies like Consolidated Glass, Fostoria, Lomax and Westmoreland were some of the companies that provided Glass for these Library Lamps. The font sometimes matched the Shades but very often, clear or colored (patterned) fonts were used. You should be able to find all the components for this Library Lamp by checking vintage Oil Lamp dealers, Flea Markets and of course on-line.....Good Luck!RER(BOB)

Thank you for the info. There were letters and numbers on the mechanism, very difficult to see but I think ATC ALC 251555 OC 51006. Is there somewhere on line that I can look up these numbers? I bought another oil lamp at the same yard sale and it has The Miller Lamp on it, so maybe they are both from the same company. Thanks again for all the information.
