    this vise has no markings ....it's heavy at 40plbs ....i looked at many vises and can't seem to find one like this ....any idea who makes this ...thanks a bunch

      My only vises now days are women and beer. Looking at your vise I would guess it is either a Phoenix or a repro of a Phoenix. The pictures aren't close up but I would venture to say it is probably original to sometime after 1885. I haven't collected them since the late 1990's so my memory may not serve well. Being unmarked this could as easily be a Columbian or a Lakeside (Lakeside was made by Columbian for Montgomery Wards but would have been marked.

      How wide are the jaws and what is the distance between the jaws when fully opened?

      jaw 4 fully open 6 1/2 ....i still can't locate it i tryed phonex columbian lakeside and parker reed yost empire it for front fold down piecde thats tough to match .....than ks danny
