I have no idea the age of this dress. The label is there, it's made by Sue Wong. 100% Silk-Feels so fab!

The style throws me along with the metal zipper! So does that collar, does anyone know what that is called?

The waist line is the same in the front and back, but again I don't know the name of that style???

I need some style gurus here :)

    Thanks!!!

lol!!! This one actually does fit me, I just want to shorten the hem some if I were to keep it-Maybe!!! I've never worn it in the 5 years that I've had it...That's a real night on the town that I've been missing! :)

      Interesting dress Sue.
I think it is an 80s does 50s style. The extended shoulder into a dolman shaped sleeve and the skirt gathered from a waist yoke is 80s all over. Is there pads in the shoulder?
The zip looks nylon to me with a metal tab which was common in the 80s (particularly a shaped one like this on higher end clothes) and the single sided placket on the zip was typically used until the 90s when invisible zips moved in.
The collar is in interesting take I think on a Chinese Mandarin collar and possibly was some of Wong's cultural style showing up.
Great dress and it's great it fits you! Wear it!

Thanks Jewels and Racer...Okay, I will wear it next time I go...wow, I don't really know where the heck I would wear this too. Maybe the casino???!!! Yep, that's it!

And thanks for all that great info racer, you are right about the zipper, it is nylon and the pull is metal. It does not have shoulder pads BUT, knowing me I more than likely took them out...you know I do stuff like that!!! Well, they make me feel like I'm shrinking lol!!!

I hope you don't shorten the hem. The style of the sleeve and the cut of the waist and skirt are more fitting of a longer length. On a short or tall woman it will keep it's elegant look if kept long.
Having just completed a course in Fashion History I am more inclined to think this dress was made pre-1980's, but of course I could be wrong.

Thank you for your comment heather, I already decided that it would displace the whole dress if I were to do that, so you are right...I won't be shortening it.

Congrats on completing your course and good luck in that field. Sounds like a great career choice and obviously you will be good at it!!!

It is just one course in Art History that I took to complete my Bachelor of Fine Art degree. I love vintage fashion but do not think I will be pursuing a career in that field.
