This is a 16" high x 14" wide O/C painting by John Carleton Wiggins (1848-1932). It features figures in a winter landscape & is signed lower left. He was noted for his realistic paintings of sheep & cattle. I was fortunate to win this at a local auction. The original frame, which I retained, was damaged so I had it reframed. The painting was restored by Art Restoration Lab at Gate House Galleries, Inc.- label verso. John Carleton Wiggins was the father of the renowned cityscape painter Guy Carleton Wiggins (1883-1962) who is famous for his New York City snow scenes. There is a third generation painter Guy Arthur Wiggins (1920-Present) still working in New York.
