I purchased this Japanese 1950's or 60's "Moon Car" several years ago. It is battery operated and was made by Nomura in Japan. Unfortunately it doesn't work. I was going to have it restored but the cost was prohibitive...like $1,500.00 to $2,500.00 or more depending on the level of restoration by a pro. Still, it is cool even in its current, and likely to remain that way, condition. At least now it is out of a damp garage and in an air-conditioned home.

MsDowAntiques, you are a keen observer! The catalog page photo is terrific. I hadn't seen it before. If only my moon car was minty with the box - good grief check out this link - http://cgi.ebay.com.sg/Japanese-NOMURA-Space-Astronaut-MOON-PATROL-Car-Tin-Toy-/140324100023 Thank You so much for taking time to share your research.
Hi Dave -- wow-- that MOON PATROL car sold on ebay for $12,000! It is awesome -- I love the little planet/globe -- and it had the box, and the astronaut/driver. It is amazing the variations they made with the same basic car/body.
This is incredible and I can definitely see why the high price tag. Now, someone needs to repro it somehow! :)
