I know almost nothing about this piece even with the time I've
spent researching it. I think it's history comes from India/Egypt
because of the Kush-Ru reference and Hewitt I think refers to a
man who wrote/taught about the Kush-Ru.
This piece has riddled me to the point it's now on my bucket list
under "Must find the answer" before I die....
You'd think being engraved would simplify things,
like a hint "start here"!
I want to thank all of you!
Never would have guessed perfume, go figure.
Looks like the members of Collectors Weekly are the GO-TO team
for any antique mystery! :)

Do you mind sharing what you found out about this piece? I thought maybe a candle holder..? And I saw your post referencing perfume. I'm in the same boat as you were, with that "must find an answer" mentality. Thanks!!!
