This is a white cameo on a blue stone set in what seems to be some type of brass or cooper type metal. What is the piece and why did my grandmother have this? Any type of information would help.

Hi :) okay thank you, this is "vintage" as opposed to antique--you can look up dating brooches by the clasp/catch style. Cameos are a popular design. I don't know what it is made of, maybe someone else will know here :) It is very nice detail in the metal, very sweet thing of your grandmothers :)
