Listed by New Eng Tel & Tel as their No 20 single faced enamel coin sign. Measuring 18"x 17" this sign exhibits the 1895 Local and Long Distance American Bell Telephone seal. The No 20 sign was used extensively in cities on store fronts and some times mounted on wood signboards hanging over the sidewalk. The No 20 sign was used in the Boston subway system fastened to the masonry walls and coped with ceramic tile. Many survived in service into the 1920s.
