    Dandyscandy
    (39 items)

This Arabia Finland salad bowl in the valencia pattern was designed in 1960 by Ulla Procope and was one of the company's last hand painted items and most popular pattern
It has an amazing design with a very deep cobalt blue, and it looks like this piece has never been used!
Last few weeks we haven't done so well in our searching, but the thrill is in the hunt, and we continue every chance we get so we like to think this is a little reward for our efforts!
The design and glaze just called out to me as it sat on the garage sale table surrounded by less desirable items.
We have only seen 2 for sale online so would like to think it's fairly rare!
This is really a dandy piece of scandy! And we love to share our finds with you all and hope you enjoy,
$2 well spent and a piece we will cherish and pass on to our children!

I love this series. It's funny Procope would get inspiration from spanish pottery to make this Valencia series.

Now, where are the australian pieces? What porcelain did you grew up with? I'm intrigued... :) :)
    14. Dandyscandy Dandyscandy, 9 years ago
Lol we grew up with johnson of Australia they were a division of johnson brothers of England, mass produced and very common, see them in nearly every opp shop, did have some nice patterns but nothing like this! Look them up, if you can't find them online I could post some photos of a few I have just let me know, but they don't even fit in the same category as scandinavian for design, and beauty!

I'm sure they are nice in a different way. I will try to search for them today, will let you know how I get on. I'm up early today, it's 05.30 here on the Saturday morning. Not sure what time you have now, it might be a new day for you until you see my respons.

Nah, johnson of australia mainly simple floral patterns, and some retro looking ones, they are everywhere over here, hence not as collectable although people do collect all the differerent patterns as there were so many of them! Google johnson of australia plates and see how you go

I will. Hope I find them.
I will come back to you later today. Nice talking to you!

You also! Thanks for all the imformation

Already back :)... I have searched for Johnson of australia and found some nice designs but unfortunately they didn't say the name of them. There was one with a dark brown geometric pattern and one with orange dots and one with a Daisy motif that was black on white.
I also found Inca and Mexicana by Jessie Tait but later found information that she was from England so I'm a bit confused. All of the mentioned designs I loved! Besides that There were a lot of mustard yellow/brown flowery once I wasn't so into but the others were really nice.

Yep that would be them! Some are nice but in my opinion not in the same league as scandy! My parents were not wealthy so they are a basic everyday set, I imagine the scandy ceramics costed more back then!

Neither were mine, but they were probably less expensive here.
