Anyone recognizes this dress, along with apron and cap as authentic Barbie outfit? I know they are from the 60's and not home made but have not been able to identify them. None of the pieces has any label but since they have been played with a lot, could have gotten lose and been removed at some point.

She looks like an authentic bubble cut Barbie. The apron and cap maybe nurse? There is an expert on cw, manikin, who will know for sure. What are the markings on the "bottom?"

Never mind, not nurse! She had a super cool nurse dress!

The doll is certainly authentic, the outfit is what I am looking to identify. Thanks for trying to help!

Ah okay, no prob, I reread your description, I found a white apron, but they had pockets for holding kitchen utensils and couldn't find the dress. Manikin will know when she sees this. I have always been fond of old barbies since I found a wardrobe filled with old Barbie clothes and shoes :)

My mistake, realized after I posted my question that I should have written the header differently - sorry! I'm going through my old Barbie stuff (all from the 60's) to see what's of value, what's not. Looking forward to comments from Manikin. The authentic outfits were extremely expensive at the time when you had to buy them with your pocket money, so not impossible that the outfit is a fake (pirate?) that I was happy to buy at the time - LONG before you knew these things were going to be considered vintage and actually worth a bit...

P.S. Apron definitely not the one which is part of the Barbie-Q #962 outfit with pockets for utensils. I do believe this dress, along with apron and cap belong together, but not at all certain whether genuine Barbie by Mattel or not...

Ah okay, you can post your stuff here if you want. I put some of my stuff in a shadow box, it's fun! Some have tags, some not, couple homemade. I think it is good to hold onto any vintage, whether knock off or not. This is my collection:

Not a Mattel Barbie outfit or dress but most likely a clone doll clothes makers dress .
I remember the day they first displayed a Number 1 Barbie in our dime store and stood with my gf and looked her . The big black eyebrows dark eyes we did not like her and there were rows of number 1's on shelf and on bottom was a huge display of her first outfits and we so loved them all but at time we could not afford to have clothes like that so opted for a different doll for Christmas we could sew clothes for . I wish now I would have bought the whole shelf of the number 1's . You know mattel let you return them because they did not hold color and would send you a replacement . Many Number 1's were destroyed by company .

Many thanks for your help. I was pretty sure it wasn't the real thing but good to know for sure. Maybe it's good we did not know at the time how valuable these dolls would become or we probably wouldn't have been able to play with them like we did. I dragged my dolls and all their stuff with me on family vacations etc - no wonder I now have a few odd shoes missing their pair and hardly any outfit intact. Still, I had a wonderful time playing with them and am quite impressed today with the outfits my mom made; a lot of work when everything is on such a small scale! Good "talking" to you and once again thank you for helping me out.

Your welcome :-) my daughter is now a huge Barbie collector and belongs to a Barbie Club here who the editor of the old Barbie Bazaar magazine was in same small club with her .
I had kept one Barbie until recently a number 3 but it is now in her collection .
My friend across street from me had a number 1 and so many clothes but then they were rich but she did let us try clothes on her doll when we played :-) I could never sew such tiny garments but my daughter can and she uses her original designs to trade for dolls at her club . Nice to meet you :-)
