Everyone.
This is my most precious and priceless pieces i have, this advertising Bank was giveaway to my father by John Theodore Ross General Manager from the Royal Bank of canada ,6 St-Peter Street Quebec City, has a souvenir for is loyal service for 30 years and later ,in 1980 my father give to me, and this where everything start. This was the first Bank in my collection and today 674 Advertising Bank later i still collected them.

The Quebec Bank
Quebec Bank, a bank founded in 1818 by a number of merchants and residents of the city of Quebec who did not consider the newly-organized Bank of Montreal(1817) sufficient for the needs of the province. The bank had an initial capital of £52,000. Its first president was J. W. Woolsey, and its first cashier, Noah Freer. The bank was incorporated in 1822 under a very lax charter and, at first, experienced quiet progress, but Suffered severely in the great revulsion of 1826-7. The paid-up capital of the bank was a million dollars in 1860 and $2,500,000 in 1890. Until a few years before 1916, its operations were confined to the provinces of Ontario and Quebec, principally to Quebec. In 1917 the Quebec Bank was absorbed by the Royal Bank of Canada, which had formerly possessed few branches in the province of Quebec . The 15 branches of the Quebec Bank closed by the Royal were chiefly in western Canada.

What a wonderful treasure !
Very Nice, and you have close to 700 of these banks? I found one a couple of years ago at a yard sale, with First National Bank on it, and have a couple questions. All the ones I have seen have this same strange paint pattern in them, do you know why? Do you know if the old lock assembly is obtainable, as mine is missing?

Yes this number is close of what i have after 35 years collected them.
The First National bank, was one of the biggest Chartered Bank in the United State, i will post fews of them soon from different state.
This finish you mention ,named Swirl finish ,its a process in two stage, it's made in some small bath(enamel container)the metal box was submerge in conductive liquid
with metal templates(Negative,Positive) all around, and bombarded with electricity called" electroplated "first bath dark brass,template negative,second bath reddish copper,template positive.
Imagine a piece a paper with this design on it,and we cut off the inside design(the darker one) and save it, you take 2 can of spray paint different color ,now you spray one color on the piece with the inside cut ,let it dry out,you remove the template and put the cut off piece and spray the other color.
The lock 4 level,they are not easy to find without the box, i have few left over, i will be more then happy to send you one by Mail.

They are made in heavy gage metal with rivet,look very similar to small safe.

Those promotional advertising Bank was very popular at the end of 19 century(1895) beginning 20 century, has they are giveaway by banking institution when you open an account for 1$,and the promises to return them when asking.Every metal box as different serial number and key.When there open the account the bank teller keep the key, till the next visit and give you an account number .There for people far from the city,usual farmer want to put there small economy and every month or 2 go to the town for deposit on there account.
When i mention souvenir, it because, my father start to working at the Royal bank of Canada in the 1930, in the year 1964, the bank prepare to close, so the manager give this little bank to my father in recognition for is services for 34 years

Thanks for all good comment,I appreciated, I really do.
Remember 35 years ,I really love researching them,
repairing,refinishing ,I will be alway's thanksfully to my dad oriented me in this field , today it's pay off because I do some conferences, expositions,expertise,who know,maybe a book later,will see.
