Often referred to as the 1895 Blue Bell sign. The word Local was added to the 1889 Blue Bell sign during 1895 to indicate that both local and long distance telephone service was available at the same location. Bell affiliated companies with obscure names used these signs more commonly than major Bell operating companies.
