    Hi

I bought this tea caddy from a flea market in Thailand.

Firstly, I was writing this message and presuming this tea caddy to be of Chinese origin. Something then crossed my mind and I did an internet search on Japanese tea caddies. I am unsure as to whether the script on the two faces of the caddy and the mark on the base is Chinese or Japanese. Can anyone help with this, please?

I have looked on google and on antique collectors and antique sellers pages alike and still I cannot identify the mark on the base.

    The caddy measures:

    Width: 4 inch (10.2cm)
    Height: 6 inch (15.3cm)
    Depth: 5.7 inch (14.6cm)

    Weight:

    483 grams

I am unsure as to the material. Many antique China tea caddies were made from pewter and the material does resemble pewter, thus I am led to believe this is what it it most likely made from.

Any advice, knowledge and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Kind regards

    Kattchaa
