    ATTWOOD
    (155 items)

I was born in the year of the rooster. I have also always wanted a Chinese Censer. So when I saw this beauty for sale in a closing down 2nd hand shop I had to have.It is my xmas present from my husband.I am taking it to a lapidary expert next week to have it identified.
Although the story that came with it was told it was Jade from an auction in 1974 I knew it wasn't.If it was jade the price would have been 10 times or more what I paid.I never rely on stories that come with antiquities unless there is proof as much as the person may believe it. The fact is they were told and that can be misleading even if not intentional
It didn't pass the scratch test and it has what appears to be bubbles when held up to light
whatever it turns out to be I am very happy and love it.
    I hope you enjoy
    Rose

Don't know how much have you paid, this is Jade, but not the He Tian Jade, which costs a arm and a leg. Whatever it is, the most important thing is you love it, end of story.

I paid $180 for it,so if it wasn't jade I was happy either way!
Thanks Shrine for your input,I value your opinion

I took him to the antique fair today to be told 1940's Italian alabaster! Who would have thought.I have quite a few carved alabaster ornaments and I would never have guessed alabaster!
Never mind I still love him?

No, simply don't believe the street experts. It's serpentine jade, not alabaster, not Italian and not 1940's.

He was an 82 year old Englishman..
I have a lot of alabaster and didnt think it looked anything like any of my alabaster pieces.
It has a very salty taste to it.Yes. I usually taste stones and gems..lol
