It looks like gold but could be brass. It came from my fathers box. It's pretty old .It turns for in and out. And it has a loop on end for hanging.

Thanks for your help. Do you think it's gold for brass. And thanks again.

Hi! No problem! Look up chatelaine, when you get a chance. I believe they did use them...it looks like sterling silver to me?

Are the edges also sharpened like a blade, or is it just the point that's very sharp?
    6. Jewels Jewels, 9 years ago
Someone posted one a while back...let me see if I can find it, I believe his name is stwilliam? Brb

      Terrifying! ;)

Is it very sharp, yet not very rigid, like you wouldn't be able to tear seams with it or open a letter with it?
    11. noob, 9 years ago
I was guessing it's for scraping ink off, back when ink wells were still used.

Noob, that was one guess by another member on the other post, tubeamp, and he is quite smart from what I've observed, so maybe...thinking if it is more "loose" it would be toothpick, if that makes sense :)

Persist to think toothpick, but some could consider it could be an antique circumcision tool... (oops, facetious attack again!)

The name of that site you posted kyra! Lol, I can't stop laughing! If you look up some other ideas to rule out philena, i.e. blood letting tool, ink eraser, seam ripper...you can see the differences, interesting really!
    21. Jewels Jewels, 9 years ago
Haha! Lovely tool really! But makes men shutter! :D
