Found this guy marked "early auto directional" in a shop in Waxahachie, TX and decided I couldn't live without him. He's die-cut from some kind of sturdy metal, mounted on a base with a pulley / wire cord that turns his arm 90 degrees (the rusty round thing is just something on which I've mounted him with magnets so that he'll stand upright). He's about 16 inches tall, mount to top of hat, and maybe 20" wide from fingertip to backside---not small! Much searching turned up only one photo of a similar one online; not for sale, but referenced in a serious auto accessories collector's blog (it had original paint of red, yellow and black). I even took it to Antiques Roadshow in Austin this year and stumped the band there! Has anyone seen one like it? Apparently it mounted on the driver's side exterior and was pulled for left turns only (a right turn being self-evident?) before introduction of turn signals on cars. I guess the outlandish shape was just sort of an "ei--oooga" horn type novelty?

OK, Kydur. I was busy studying St. Maarten "wild life" when I made that reply. LOL! I can always shift to 3-4 other diff. languages, but they would mean basically the same thing.
Very interesting, there can't be many of these around.
