This chair was one of the first ones I ever got... I'm pretty sure it was the third one after the Mackintosh chairs. I purchased it at a funny antique store for only 12 euros (around 15 dollars...) and when I did it was tinted dark red and was upholstered in a red fabric with black flowers (take a look at the lower image in pic.3... that's the way it used to look like). I love the way the arms evolve and become stretchers... how clever is that? It really has a strong 50s look about it -I'm pretty sure it was made in the late 50s... -

When I did my course on cabinetmaking and furniture restaurarion ijn 2005 I decided the old chair wasn't that fun anymore, so I gave it a new look: I ebonized it, varnished it and reupholstered it in this articificial white velvet fabric. The change was certainly dramatic! ( I have to say that before the change I used o call it "the hooker chair" and once it got its new look I started calling it "the Nun chair").

It wasn't long ago when I found out it was another Mocholí chair. I found a pic of a simmilar one online, only this one hasn't got the upholstered back, with the Mocholi brand stamped on it (please see pic.3).

On pic.4 you can see it by the first Mocholi chair from the 1930s ( http://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/141987-chair-no-28-viuda-de-m-mochol-vale?in=user )

I'm sorry the quality of the pics isn't very good. I took them this evening at the studio with my cell phone. I should have waited to take my camera there, but I really wanted to share them here at CW!

By the way, in this pic you can see how small my glass collection was in 2001 :)

in this link you can see a pic of the same corner of the house about seven years later:
