This was mine as a child not sure when I got it but he was always around as long as I can remember and I am 43 now on both shoes he has Copyright the Rushton Company he has a little squeaker in one arm and i am pretty sure he used to have a hat. He was fashioned from the real Zippy from the Howdy Doody show

Rushton explains the Santa doll vibe I got from him. He is probably getting close to 60 years old. Very cool.
Thanks everyone I've kept him all this time but I think my mother taught him to stare at me disapprovingly when I've done something wrong........ so he going back in the box!
I have a Zip. My Dad bought it for my Aunt back in the day. Before she passed away she gave it to me along with the story. He is also in a box. My daughter doesn't like looking at him. He also lost his hat somewhere. Thanks for sharing.

Lol yes Tanya I understand what your daughter means he was always looking at me and Katherine he does have that slightly evil aura about him, I suspect he is possessed..........
I still sleep with him generally just so my wife is reminded I still look better than a monkey :)
