It's always interesting when something crosses several lines of collecting. This is an example where telephone meets art pottery meets TV lamp. Unmarked but I believe it to be Cameron Clay Works. I met a collector from Cameron who had one like it and said it did indeed come from there.

The second picture shows a square area where the lamp would have been mounted. It is drilled for wiring.

   Looks like it also had an area for holding candy. Just fyi, this style of telephone (that is loosely imitated by this thing) is called a grabaphone - originally a french innovation.

   This "thing" ? You wound me ,sir ! You mean this beautiful,hand painter, 24 kt gold covered piece of Cameron Pottery? LOL Yes, candy, perhaps or more often an artificial plant to diffuse the light.

   my apologies. as a phone collector I look at this and just see a fake phone, not the beautiful piece of pottery it may very well be!

   Thank for such a quick response! Mine is the same type design with a few variations. Mine does not have square section, the additional design in the front or the drill holes. It is oval all the way around and in fantastic condition! Do you have a clue as to the estimated age and value? Once again thank you so much.

   Sheer coincidence on quick response...I have gotten responses months later ! but glad for your good luck ! The one I have was probably a TV lamp. The square is where the bulb assembly would have gone. It was not unusual for popular pottery pieces to be mad into lamps. Age...1940's to 1950's. I would value it at $100 - $150. Remember, there are no books so it is an educated guess.

   Once again, thank you for the info. I purchased mine for a Church Chairity Thrift Store. I'm not normally a gold person, but this piece caught my eye. I was just so unusual! Apparently I have made a very good investment, I paid $25.00 for mine. I'm torn whether to sell or keep as conversation piece!
