This 3 inch owl has given me some serious headaches trying to i.d material, maker and age. I have added a couple of new pics and info in the comments.

The "P" could stand for Pewter. RER(BOB)

@LOUMANAL I am not convinced its pewter but it did cross my mind a few dozen times.

Does anyone know what the marks are?

I must admit the base picture looks like pewter , but with the over all images i think this is silver plated !!
Old Silver plate marks are very similar to real silver and some have date letters which i think the "k" is...
The pc mark could be the maker or the owners initials put on at time of order!
For example -Elkington & co used a k on their plate starting in 1849- running through the alphabet , again in 1865, 1886 & 1912..
im not saying its by them or even plated (could be silver or pewter ) just looks like plate from the pics , try googling silver plate marks on owls youll be supprised what turns up on a pc:-)

surfdub66 - Thank you so much for your input. Finally something new to think about..... the thing is, there is quite some age related wear particularly on top of head and down the left side (not visible in pics) but not the usual sudden color change light and dark silver tone you would see with silver plate but still not ruling it out, thanks again.
Comments and ideas are always welcome.

After 4 yrs and still unsolved I would like to add some more info.... I believe this item is older than it seems... there are only 3 stamped Mark's... the first looks like a face with crown possibly leopard or lion but I am confused with only 3 Mark's and the crowned face being the first of 3.... I did gently clean it because the mark's and detail of the owl were visually unattractive and unreadable.
      Any comments much appreciated.
