    I am trying to identify this tool, which belonged to my great grandfather. He was a building contractor from around 1900 to 1940.

      That's it! My first thought was that it was a lock, but I assumed I was wrong. :) So that was a huge help. Thank you!

      I'm sure that my great grandfather must have used it to lock his tool chest. We have several of his tools, but I was able to identify the rest. Thank you again.
