I was lucky to snag this Art Deco, Jiffy Ware pitcher on an online antique shop not too long ago for a reasonable price. These pitchers are really rare to find, especially with the lid intact.

The pitcher is circa 1930's-1940's, and it was designed by famed industrial designer, Viktor Schreckengost, for the American Limoges China Company in Sebring Ohio. This refrigerator pitcher was part of a modern kitchenware line. Other dishes in the Jiffy Ware line include casseroles and butter dishes (which is a really awesome design).

Here is the same pitcher displayed at the Yale Art Gallery:

Viktor Schreckengost died in 2008 at the age of 101. The New York Times did an informative story on him:

The design is similar to other streamlined kitchenware of the time, such as vintage Fiesta Ware. It is a glazed stoneware, which was made for everyday use. It has a creamy white, bulbous body with red-orange accents. There are speed lines molded into the base and lip of the pitcher. The red color is similar to the vintage Fiesta red color. It's marked with the chef's symbol on the base. The pitcher is depicted in "American Streamlined Design: The World of Tomorrow" by Hans and Hoy on pg. 132.

This baby is way too fragile and valuable for use, so it's only on display.
