mystery still not solved.. any help?
Looks like composition (sawdust and glue). Very popular material during WWII when not a whole lot of anything wasn't rationed for the war. I've seen tanks and the like in composition around 6" plus, but I don't think I've seen these specifically.
I hate to be a 'Killjoy' but you just don't provide us with any information so it's like digging in the dark.....................
It appears that your toys were made by Wellmade Doll and Toy Co. of New York.

Nice catch fourpeepsake! I want to start collecting these American composition pieces to go along with my other military toys, so having a name to attach to some of them is very helpful.
