Wait, I just read the article, wheat penny is one that shows ears of wheat. :)

No, wait, it's an error coin, I just read the other article, lol.

I think I have an error coin, one of these days will take it out and check to make sure.

288 million minted - can still obtain one in almost uncirculated condition for about 6 or 7 dollars - yours is in below good condition - no value

I notice by your profile you are a new coin collector - if you haven't already, pick up a copy of the Redbook - it is issued every year but the values rarely change over the years. (it's now issued in paperback too so price is a nominal expense and you can use the same reference book for years) - Basically, you get all the total mintage figures and values based on conditions for all U.S. coins (including an explanation of error types and values). Sometimes you can find a copy for very cheap from a library sale since they update their reference books on an annual basis. - Good luck with your collecting - keep in mind though that I have been collecting for about 45 years now and have accumulated tens of thousands of "wheat pennies" and still never came across the "key scarce dates" - got some "semi-key" dates but they always seem to be in poor condition.

The good thing was when I started it was very common to still get wheat pennies, silver coins (dimes, quarters, halves) in your pocket change, even Buffalo Nickels would pop up occasionally.

aghcollect: Back in the days was the best, when coins were made of precious metals. Now hard to find a good coin, with the internet anyone can buy coins without leaving home. I have done so but can get caught up over paying, I learned my lesson. Lol. (:
