    I found this cutie at a thrift shop. Caught my eye. Just wondering about it, not sure where it's from (or when- I would think newer since there is a sticker saying made in Japan). the design is completely bordered in what looks like gold leaf. Either ceramic or porcelain vase. It is 8" tall

      Yes, I would say it’s from the late 1950-70’s. If you want to try and find he maker, try gotheborg.com.

      "the design is completely bordered in what looks like gold leaf."

      The gold outlining is evoking cloisonné work where the design is 'drawn' with metal wire and then the compartments bordered by wire are filled-in with coloured enamel.
