I found your information on the web and was hoping you might could identify this tool or something I found at a garage sale. I weighs about 4 lbs and has a slight curvature to the side with the spikes.

I agree valentine, but where are the screw holes?
Could be the bracket that bolted to the flag pole to tie off the ropes. One bolt would go through the hole and the spiked would keep it from turning.

The flag pole holder is a great guess, I thought the same thing but if you notice the side that the flag would go in the pole would be upside down based on the slant of the hole on the back side. Also there are no holes for mounting. This thing is solid iron like that of a tool that would be on a long handle.
No old linemen out there I guess. Its a "ram-head" strand tie down. It goes on the pole end of a down guy loop. The loop goes over the horns, with a long bolt thru the pole, square lugs toward the pole.

Onespeed can you provide a source to confirm this? I would like to read about it and I cant seem to find any information on the web IRT a lineman's Ram-head or a down guy loop. Thanks
