Another pretty hand made & hand decorated vase , its 4"h x 3.5w and decorated with a sweet little bird in blues/yellows & greens a bit like the old delft tiles..
the base shows as a very dark brown clay which seems unusual to me
As most of what i have is more terracotta colour or redware - cream & greys ...
I really haven't a clue where this may be from because of the clay but the design i think is Spanish/Portugese /Mexican? ????
What do you think ??
Is that a dark brown glaze on the bottom??? That's what it looks like from here anyway. It's cute!
Hi shareurpassion, no its the clay cos theres a bit of paint loss on the rim which you can see in the pics which is the same colour! !

What a great pot! There is a type of Mexican pottery that is black, but it is black and grey throughout, and this clay looks dark brown to me which I've never seen in Mexican pottery. Also the style isn't consistent with Mexican pottery. I dunno, looks more European to me, but I'm no expert. That dark clay does look familiar.
