    These are a few of my hand held corn shellers from the 1800's. The one in the front of pic #1 is a T-handle sheller that screws it's way down the cob and sprays the corn in all directions (probably used in the chicken coop for the chickens to scratch for).
    The pic #2 shows two clam shell type shellers. One with two plates and one with three plated. By squeezing the plates around the cob, the kernels peel right off.
    Pic #3 shows what it referred to as a frying pan sheller (after it's resemblance to a cast iron frying pan). This particular one is a small sheller that was mfg. for shelling pop corn.
