ANTIQUE FRANKENTHAL EMPRESS ELIZABETH ON HORSEBACK W/ PAGE PORCELAIN FIGURINE
MAKER: Frankenthal, Germany
MARK & DATE: Carl Theodore Electorate - Ca. 1760's.
MODEL: The Empress Elizabeth on Horseback, Attended by a Page - 8.5" H x 7.25" L
after Georg Christoph Grooth oil on canvas done 1743.
It is noteworthy that Kaendler at Meissen also created a model after this original painting. Both the Meissen and the Frankenthal manufactories were owned by the German monarch at the time these models were created and also when this figurine was made. The figurine is in remarkable condition for its age and the history it has survived.
