I found these Art Deco glass salt and pepper shakers in mint, never used condition with the original paper label still on them. Having the label on them has been very informative in determining the designer and manufacturer of them. The label says they are part of the "Glass Art" line from the Owens-Illinois Glass Company, which is still in existence today. The Owens-Illinois Glass Company did a number of Art Deco designed items during the 1930's, including giftware items and more utilitarian objects such as bottles.
Designed in 1937 by William E. Mackelfresh, these "condiment" shakers have a super streamlined appearance to them due to the speedlines on the bases and their teardrop bakelite tray.
I had never heard of the designer William Mackelfresh before, but after doing some patent searches with his name, I found that he was prolific in designing a number of glassware items for the company--including the a patent I included for some fabulous globe glass bookends (last pic)! I've never seen those bookends before, and they may have never gone into production. However, I'll be certainly looking for a set now.
