    These cast iron stands were used to heat up the sad irons that homemakers of the 19th century used on wash day to iron their family's clothing.
    They placed the stand on a kitchen stove or pot belly stove and leaned the irons against them to absorb the heat from the fire box in order to flatten their linens with the hot irons

      I have never seen a stand like that for sad irons before. Great item.

      I own one of these. Do you have an idea of what they would be worth? Are they rare? I have never seen another one before. But mine looks just like that! I also have 3 matching Geneva irons with it. Makes a great display!
