i love this piece i found at the Alameda Flea Market today! i think it says Yoghjida, but am not sure. it's hand-built, cut slab cylinder - one slab which is covered w/ a beautiful, midcentury-inspired design and the other slab a beautiful, deep green / black. 8 inches tall x 4 inches wide.

I read it as Yoshida, too. Took a quick look on Google, no matches for the vase or signature that I could find.

I found an Akira Yoshida who is a well-known Japanese potter and he did some work that looks similar to this. but i would doubt he would ever sign his work with English letters!
It's a beautiful vase. I'd take that to Antiques Roadshow for sure. :)
