This rather strange vase was an inheritance from a relative in Des Moines, IA. An insurance appraisal from 1988 describes it as follows:
"GLASS VASE- Amethyst, blown glass Dorflinger-type with yellow enamel flowers and gold leaf design on surface, worn, chip on neck. 4-1/2' h. x 6' w., squat ovoid shape. E. 20th Century." Insurance value assigned was $175. We don't see anything 'Dorflinger-like' about it, and are not sure it's blown. The only marking is very faint hand-printing (possibly originally grease pencil?) on the bottom, visible only obliquely. It appears to be "IA077 1233" possibly followed by another obscured digit. We'd love to identify this lovely and unusual piece!

We appreciate the love! But does anyone recognize the style, pattern or era? Or must this remain forever an 'unsolved mystery'?
