This canteen was used during WW II by a Japanese army soldier. The canteen has the carrying strap and wooden stopper. It was marked by the soldier by scratching his unit into the painted metal. He also has his name on a cloth strip sewn to the carrying harness. This is very faded. This was brought home by a U.S. serviceman after the war.
