unsure what this coin is..and ive searched long and hard..it weighs 8.9 grams, it appears to be silver, and very well preserved

A numismatic rarity.
I hope that it is real!
It was the first French coin minted with a portrait of a Ling of France.
Louis d'Orléans was born in 1462 - the son of the Duke Charles d'Orléans and Marie de Clèves. In 1465 the succeeded his father under the regency of his mother. In 1476 he married Jeanne the daughter of the French King Louis XI. He had coins minted in Savoy at Asti under the title of "Ludovicus Dux Aurelianesis" - the Duke of Orléans until 1498 when he succeeded to the throne as Louis XII.

En 1476, il épousa Jeanne, fille du roi de France Louis XI. Il frappa monnaie à Asti avec le titre de "duc d'Orléans" jusqu'en 1498, année de son accession au trône de France sous le nom de Louis XII."

I suppose something to add is the coat of arms : It is the combination of King of France and the serpent of Milan. "Louis conquered the Duchy of Milan in 1500 and pushed forward to the Kingdom of Naples, which fell to him in 1501. Proclaimed King of Naples, Louis faced a new coalition gathered by Ferdinand II of Aragon and was forced to cede Naples to Spain in 1504." ...."Louis, who remained Duke of Milan after the second Italian War, was interested in further expansion in the Italian Peninsula and launched a third Italian War (1508–1516), which was marked by the military prowess of the Chevalier de Bayard.
Louis XII died in 1515 without a male heir. He was succeeded by his cousin Francis from the Angoulême cadet branch of the House of Valois."

Check out the numisbids site above ..... the price is there in Euros. I am not saying yours is real or of the same quality but it is worth further research, no?

This is a French item with interest for Italian collectors too.
It was described in Italian as "raruccia" - really rare.
