Visiting a friends house, I noticed a chair [1] that I've overlooked a dozen times before. The rustic construction makes me think it is an antique. The legs don't look original though because they seem machined. The rest of the chair looks hand hewn and it's held together with wooden dowels. The family is from Massachusetts but doesn't know anything about the chair - only that it has always been around.
I'm not looking for an appraisal but Is this too valuable to use as a regular chair? It seems strong but I'm afraid to sit in it. I couldn't find any markings but maybe I dont know where to look.
    Thank you for you time!!!

Use it as a regular chair. Only parts of it come close to being antique so you won't devalue it. Enjoy it.
