I got this painting 20 years ago - wondered how one can tell from the edges of the painting whether this is original and old Diego Rivera. For sure it is one of Diego's signature painting of a peasant flower vendor - El Vendedora de Flores or Callas. This painting is signed Diego Rivera 1944. Appeared on original burlap sack mat and simple paneled painted black frame. I haven't seen a copy of this on the Internet or only 1 came real close and prefer to leave the painting a mystery or the whole painting out. Only curious whether it is original and how can you tell whether it is from 30s-40s.

The back frame sealing is all tattered and antique. The edging of the painting is slightly wrinkled. I didn't know who Diego was back then until a year ago, someone pointed this out.

    Features:
    - Flower vendor carrying case of flowers to take to market
    - White calla lilies
    - Burlap sack mat
    - Glossy black paint moulding frame
    - Slightly wrinkly edges
    - Signed lower right corner - specifically - "Diego Rivera . 44"
    - Back sealing torn (not the back cover, just the sealing)
    - Corrugated poster board backing
    - Twisted metal picture-hanging wire

Thank you in advance for the community's input, if any.

I understand your concern in not wanting to show whole picture. The best advise i can give you is take it outside for the natural light and look at it thru a jewelers loupe to see if there are dots. If you see dots, its a print.

It may just be better for you to take it and have it appraised.
