This is a set of two large matching pieces--probably serving spoons. One has her first name Nina and the other has her middle name Fredricka. Both are marked with 1883 which would have been the year of her 5th birthday. I am wondering why they would pick that year. Would it be her year of entering school? Her family was Protestant so she would have been baptized when she was a baby, I think. If any one knows what type event would be commemorated, I would love to hear from them.

    Thank you.

Great pair of spoons , i think theyre picture back spoons
victorian older than the 1883 date stamped on them possibly 1836-50s assayed in London U.K
Possibly by MARY CHAWNER, any chance of a close up on the marks,
i think it in the Albert pattern (unsure)
dunno why they would be given for a 5th birthday ???

They are hallmarked with 4 small ovals on the back of the handle. One appears to be a horse, the other three are too small to tell. Sorry, my camera is not good enough to get closer. It is possible they are older, from her mother or grandmother and passed to her. Her father's side is Nutting and may be related to the Nuttings from Mass. Her mother was born in Ontario from a family from Ireland. Both sides were wealthy.

      Horse ... lol
its the stirling lion passant for silver
ones the leopards head for London assay
      ones the makers initials (mc)
And the one i cant really make out is the date letter looks like the 1838 mark but unsure ..
i find if you take the photo with a magnifying glass in front, your camera should take a good shot of the marks..
