This Necklace is 15ct gold, Opals, Seed Pearls and Demantoid Garnets its a beauty. At first I thought it was Russian, they love their Demantiod Garnets.
The case is wonderful, you can still smell the leather after all these years . I think it is original to this piece. The Necklace was made by Goldsmiths & Silversmiths, if you look at the inside of the top of the case there is a Royal crest, by appointment to H M the King, who I believe was King Edward the VII, of the British Royal Family. As far as I'm aware they still make Jewellery for the Royal family to this day.
The Opals are vivid, I hope I've managed to capture the colours, they go very well with the Demantiod Garnets, and seed pearls. The gold is a lovely rose colour, and the chain is a figaro link with push barrel clasp.

I gather Demantiod Garnets are the green stones. Learning everyday! I love their green and as you say with the pearls really picks up on the opal. Just beautiful (the case too).

In Tsarist Russia, their Royal family adored Dementoid Garnet. You should see some of their Jewels, there amazing. They class them on par with Diamonds. I think most of the Russian Demantoid Garnets were/are mined in the Ural Mountains. The colours of these stones are very destintive.
