Acton Manufacturing Co. built this beauty. A heavy steel cooler which probably weighs around 20 lbs. empty, was probably the reason people were in such good shape back then! Imagine filling it and lugging that thing to the beach? Has the original box along with the sandwich tray and the original brass drain on the side.

eBay has a great feature to the left of the Search button, touch on advanced, then type in description, check "sold listings", then search and you will see auction results. It's a pretty decent reference. Also earlycoke.com has a killer price guide. In my opinion, the books undervalue the old picnic coolers. They are as popular as ever. Yours is a sweet piece, that's for sure!

Hi everyone, I know its an old thread but I had a question about almost the same model cooler I've come into in the passing of family. I don't necessarily want to sell it as it has sentimental value but being that its in pretty rough shape ( a few small rust spots have popped pinholes and one side is slightly dented as well as the paint having faded quite a bit to very light coverage and showing some metal) I was wanting to restore it in memory of my family members but before I do would that be a big no no that's likely to ruin it altogether?

Dad took us kids to Coney Island with that cooler in the early 60s.
We knew we were going to the beach when he got the ice pick out and started chopping the big blocks of ice he made in the freezer with milk cartons.
Took the cooler on the subway with PBJ sandwiches in wax paper. Of course sodas for us and a couple of cans of Schaffer beer for him. Great memories.
