I wonder if anyone could give me any information about my lacquer box. It is beautifully painted . I think it is of a Russian fairy tale but am not sure. It is dated 1956. Any information would be welcome.

Lots of hidden images & I love that sort of thing. Wondering about the hut that seems to be supported by chicken feet? Whole scene is very interesting.

Thank you for your comments. I wonder if anyone knows which fairy tale it could be. I have seen a similar painting and I think the man could be Pushkin .

looks like a russian paper mache box it should be signed somewhere look carefully on the bottom cover sometimes they are signed in similar colors as picture so its hard to see sometimes they are dated too.

Hi lauriecat, thanks for your comments. The box is dated 1956 there is a signature that I can't quite make out it looks like Hapgofa.c.t??cx. Left hand side has no6478.
