    - "Royal Muskoka Hotel" which was located in Ontario, Canada - circa 1917
    - Printed photographic image / measures 8 1/2" wide by 6 1/4" high
** The Royal Muskoka Hotel was completed in 1902 and was undeniably the largest and grandest summer resort in all of Muskoka, a strikingly beautiful property capable of accommodating 350 guests in style. Every possible amenity and comfort was provided for guests, including electric lighting, hot and cold running water, a post office, telegraph office, bar, billiard room, bakeshop, newsstand, barber shop and beauty salon. The 130-acre grounds boasted a nine-hole golf course, bowling greens, tennis courts, riding stables, and miles of shaded walking trails. A carriage road ran down to the steamboat wharf, where there stood two-storey boathouses with swimming platforms and all-manner of pleasure boats for hire. In the spring of 1952, a fire broke out and within minutes it flared up to entirely consume the great hotel. It was completely destroyed and all that remained were the chimneys.
