I don't know when this was made, but it doesn't appear brand new to me. Maybe it was made in the 60s-70s using old pieces? i just don't see anything that makes me think 'new' on it. the figure appears to be glazed ceramic - handmade. i should have gotten a picture of the other tire which is cracked rubber. any feedback appreciated!

Picture of wing is KEY to showing it is modern with a created patina.
The missing washer shows the edges of the APPLIED patina. Also the scratch shows pristine paint underneath-- true age/ patina on painted wood won't show pristine underneath. A scratch would be more likely to expose the bare wood.

Rim and spoke show an applied painted on rusting-- the chipped areas wouldn't occur with natural rusting. Also some of the "rust" patina was painted onto the tire itself.

thank you scottvez! i really appreciate your taking the time to teach me the details of this. so often, people simply dismiss a piece, and just as often, owners refuse to see the real faults in their piece. it's rare that someone takes the time to teach about this kind of thing. i would have written sooner, but my keyboard died and only garbledy-gook came out of it.
