Hi I'm new to the site. I found this doll in an old memories box my mom has. I know it's a cute little kewpie doll. I'm just not sure if it's the real kewpie and around what year it's from. There are no markings on it not even on the bottom of his feet. Feels like a rubber or soft plastic. The eyes move and it's about 4 inches tall. Any information on him would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.

A kewpie doll was the first thought I had so maybe you are lucky as I know very little about them & for it to come straight to mind I think we are Wright.

It is not a original Kewpie by Rosie . Many companies made look a like Kewpies and yours seems to be rubber and maybe from 1960s or there abouts . Only a few companies were given permission to copy her Kewpie , Yours has some minor differences and that is how they got away with it . Like wings are not blue . It is cute but to know maker when it is unmarked good be any company in US since it is not marked with country of origin it would have been made in USA ,
The Kewpie dolls were initially made out of bisque exclusively, but composition versions were introduced in the 1920s and celluloid versions were manufactured in the following decades. In 1949, Effanbee created the first hard plastic versions of the dolls, and soft rubber and vinyl versions were produced by Cameo Co. and Jesco between the 1960s and 1990s. Yours was not made by any of these companies which had authorization to make her dolls
