    This is a gold top for a walking cane that was found years ago in some junk. Trying to find who made these and how old it may be.

      The most logical question is what markings are on it to establish it is gold?

      I agree, fhrjr2 and surfdub66, since many of these walking stick handles were rolled gold (thin sheets of less than 5% gold that is fused to a base metal) or gold-filled. Sometimes the ones that are gold-filled are marked accordingly.

      Look at the underside, from the side, to see if you can distinguish where the thin gold sheet is bonded to the base metal.
