I have been a buyer of gold coins for 25 years with most coming from the time gold was $250-$300 per ounce. Boy do I wish I could go back in time and "back up the truck" and load up. Actually I bought all I had extra money for and drove old trucks and didn't spend squat on myself because I loved gold coin so. This coin is a mint state 64 coin graded by Numismatic Guarantee Service (NGC) and at present is worth 3-5 K. Each of these old gold coins contain close to one ounce of gold. Actual composition is 90% gold & 10% copper. These were minted from 1849 to 1907. I own several dozen like this but am only going to list this one front and back (heads & tails) and then just three more different dates in my next post. Of each denomination of gold coins, I'm just posting one post with several different from each size $1.00, $2.50, $5.00, $10.00 & $20.00 There were two kinds of several of these denominations. And three of the $1.00 I'm just doing one post on each of the 11 different ones. The twenty like this one is called the "Liberty Series" The other twenty dollar coin series is the "Saint Gaudens Series".
